Daddy B. Nice notes:

Mississippi/Louisiana-native Snatch Nelson first charted here in December of 2007 at #3 with "Ride It Like A Pony". Before I looked it up, I would have guessed at least five years earlier, in the early aughts. Interestingly, Blues Critic reports that an early version of "Ride It Like A Pony" was first published in 1993.

Nelson is one of those obscure regional artists whom, just when you think you're never going to hear from them again, re-emerge and, moreover, prove they've been pursuing their careers all along, only "off the radar," if not in the driven fashion of the top stars, nevertheless in exigent and workmanlike fashion.

Nelson has accumulated no less than four albums listed in Daddy B. Nice's CD Store over the ensuing "quiet" decade, and there have been more. All have dropped without notice, like the proverbial trees in a forest.

Snatch Nelson resurfaced here in 2016 with the single "Dance The Night Away (Remix)" with the Daddy B. Nice comment, "A rare recording from the singer who gave us 'Ride It Like A Pony' in 2007."

(See right-hand column of this page: recommended singles.)

The tepidness of the comment underscores the fact that Snatch Nelson, like many aspiring artists, hasn't achieved a truly break-out, signature single--even within the confines of the chitlin' circuit. Nor does this new album appear to have anything hefty or novel enough to warrant "break-out" status. It is, however, an attractive and listenable collection, with true southern soul running through every track.

I was instantly enamored with the ballad, Sha La Do Be Do".

"Here's Another Party Song" is a funkier remake of "Dance The Night Away".
